BCBS Global Solutions Collaborates with Carrot for Expatriate Health Services

Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Solutions (BCBS Global Solutions) has announced a partnership with Carrot to provide fertility, family-building, and hormonal health benefits to expatriate members worldwide. The collaboration brings together BCBS Global Solutions’ international coverage with Carrot’s global fertility and family care platform.

BCBS Global Solutions is jointly owned by 15 Blue Cross plans and Bupa Global. Through this agreement, members with group expatriate medical coverage will have access to a broad range of services, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, gestational surrogacy, adoption, menopause, and low testosterone management.  

According to BCBS Global Solutions, the partnership will connect members with Carrot’s network of more than 17,000 vetted clinics, agencies, attorneys, and specialists worldwide. The Carrot platform supports over 25 languages and offers live translation services across 300 languages.

Simon Jackson, Chief Growth Officer of BCBS Global Solutions, said the collaboration represents continued progress in the organization’s global healthcare efforts. “Following our recent rebrand, this partnership with Carrot marks another step forward in our commitment to deliver innovative global healthcare solutions,” Jackson said. He added that the organization’s mission is “to simplify international healthcare, so members aren’t just covered, they’re cared for across borders, throughout every step of the family-building process.”

Through the partnership, BCBS Global Solutions’ Blue Distinction Specialty Care providers will be integrated into Carrot’s network. The collaboration also includes CarrotMatch, an intelligent provider matching tool that helps members identify the most appropriate provider based on clinical quality, location, and individual needs.

Members will have access to personalized care pathways featuring guidance from Carrot Experts and Carrot Companions, both of which are integrated into existing benefits. These tools are designed to offer real-time insights and support throughout the care process.

For employers, the arrangement provides flexible coverage options for multinational workforces. Comprehensive benefits, according to the announcement, play a role in attracting and retaining skilled employees. Carrot data shows that 90% of its members report being more likely to remain with their employer because the company offers Carrot’s services.

Tammy Sun, Founder and CEO of Carrot, said that the partnership is intended to improve access to reproductive and hormonal health care globally. “Regardless of where you work or live, everyone deserves access to compassionate, culturally competent fertility, family-building, and hormonal health support,” Sun said. She added that combining BCBS Global Solutions’ global coverage with Carrot’s network and digital platform helps multinational employers provide connected and consistent care to their employees.

According to the announcement, Carrot’s programs have demonstrated results in improving fertility outcomes, lowering maternal morbidity, and reducing claims costs. The company also reports that nine in ten Carrot members return to work after pregnancy.
