InStride

InStride Health, a company that provides specialized mental healthcare for children, teenagers and young adults, has secured $30 million in series C funding to support its expansion into new markets and strengthen relationships with additional payer partners.

The series C round was co-led by new strategic investors Echo Health Ventures and FMZ Ventures. Existing backers like Valtruis and Mass General Brigham Ventures also participated in the financing round.

This follows InStride’s $30 million series B raise in March 2024 and an earlier $26 million funding round in 2022, bringing the company’s total funding to $86 million to date.

Founded in 2021, InStride Health delivers insurance-covered virtual specialty therapy for children, adolescents and young adults dealing with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). According to the company, its care model combines clinical competence, exposure guidance and ongoing support integrated into daily routines to better engage young patients and their families.

The company was established by Harvard-trained clinicians from McLean Hospital, alongside healthcare and technology leaders, to address the escalating mental health challenges facing children and teens.

Mona Potter and Kathryn Boger developed the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP) at McLean Hospital, a psychiatric institution based in Massachusetts. In a 2024 discussion, the clinical leaders explained that they wanted to adapt a successful academic hospital model to provide broader and more flexible access to insurance-covered mental healthcare. To achieve this, they partnered with healthcare entrepreneur John Voith to launch InStride Health. Before co-founding the company, Voith spent nearly seven years at athenahealth overseeing interoperability initiatives and later co-founded the teledentistry company Virtudent.

Although the pediatric mental health program at McLean demonstrated strong clinical outcomes, limited insurance coverage and extensive wait times restricted access for many families.

InStride Health CEO John Voith said that the McLean program had successfully integrated evidence-based practices and delivered exceptional patient outcomes, but its reach was restricted to a small number of participants and relied on self-payment. Voith explained that the company was motivated by the opportunity to expand access to a model producing strong clinical results and scale that level of care nationwide. He further indicated that InStride’s mission has been driven by the goal of combining meaningful impact with practical healthcare innovation.

The company is continuing to broaden its footprint through a clinically focused, technology-enabled model of care. InStride Health provides evidence-based treatment for complex anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related conditions for individuals between the ages of seven and 24.

Each patient is matched with a dedicated care team that includes a psychiatrist, therapist and exposure trainer, enabling real-time support through familiar tools such as text messaging and a mobile application with video and chat functionality. The care team leads patients through tailored treatment plans featuring defined milestones and practical, real-world exposure exercises designed to help develop lasting skills and healthy habits that support long-term progress.

In addition, the care team can collaborate with an individual’s broader support system outside formal sessions, including parents, family members, school personnel and existing healthcare providers.

InStride Health has announced a $30 million Series C funding round aimed at accelerating the expansion of its pediatric mental health services. The investment highlights growing confidence in innovative care models that address the increasing demand for specialized mental health support among children, adolescents, and their families.

With this latest funding, InStride plans to broaden its reach, enhance clinical programs, and improve access to evidence-based mental health treatment for young patients nationwide.

InStride Expands Access to Pediatric Mental Health Care

The new capital will enable InStride to scale its services and bring high-quality mental health care to more communities. As demand for pediatric behavioral health services continues to rise, the company is focused on reducing barriers to care and ensuring timely treatment for children and teens facing mental health challenges.

By expanding its clinical network, InStride aims to support families who often struggle to find specialized pediatric mental health resources.
