- Salesforce Secures $1.6 Billio ...
Salesforce has been awarded a $1.6 billion contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) under a three-year agentic enterprise license agreement aimed at supporting modernization efforts across the department.
The VA said the agreement is intended to create a unified foundation across the department by providing employees with trusted agentic AI, integrated data, and collaboration tools designed to reduce administrative friction and give staff more time to serve Veterans.
The VA provides healthcare, benefits, and other essential services to more than 17 million Veterans, as well as their families and caregivers. Through 170 VA medical centers and more than 1,100 Veterans Health Administration outpatient clinics, the department delivered more than 82 million direct-care appointments in 2025.
VA Selects Missionforce as Foundation for Modernization
To address the Veterans First mandate and growing demand for services, the VA said it sought a unified platform capable of scaling support while advancing modernization efforts. Missionforce, Salesforce’s AI-enabled platform for mission-critical government operations, will serve as the foundation of this initiative.
The department said the platform will support efforts to connect employees, data, and workflows across the organization. Salesforce plans to build on existing deployments by focusing on AI-powered support and 24/7 care coordination, connected teams for faster Veteran care, and unified data and actionable insights for enhanced care.
Agentforce Tools Planned for Virtual Contact Center Operations
Agentforce Public Sector and Agentforce Health are planned as key components of the VA’s 24/7 virtual contact center. The tools are intended to assist with patient triage, intake, and care coordination.
According to Salesforce, AI agents integrated into existing VA workflows will surface real-time knowledge during live calls, instantly route and triage cases, and automate benefits verification. The company said these functions are intended to free staff to focus on direct Veteran support.
The Salesforce-powered contact system has already handled more than 40.6 million Veteran calls since deployment. The VA plans to continue the program through the renewed investment.
Expanding Scheduling, Collaboration, and Data Capabilities
Slack currently serves as a collaboration tool within the VA, providing staff with a single place to access information and work together. As part of the expanded effort, the department aims to build on its unified patient scheduling initiative with a goal of reducing scheduling times from an average of 28 days to minutes.
Salesforce said it will support this effort through Veteran communications, provider engagement, workflow coordination, and access intelligence.
Missionforce will also integrate the VA’s existing and legacy platforms into a single trusted data layer. According to the VA, this will provide both staff and AI agents with a full view of each Veteran. Tableau will be deployed to transform the data into insights, including daily snap reports, claims processing dashboards, and employee performance reporting.
Existing Salesforce Programs Continue to Support VA Services
The new use cases will build on existing Salesforce platforms already in use at the VA, including modernization of the Veterans Crisis Line and the Status Query and Response Exchange System (SQUARES).
The new Veterans Crisis Line has already supported response to critical incidents by providing suicide prevention coordinators with tools to coordinate and dispatch immediate assistance.
SQUARES provides more than 2,100 authorized users with access to Veteran eligibility information. The program helps connect at-risk Veterans with community-based organizations that provide housing, food, and other support services.
“Salesforce gives VA a trusted foundation to connect its people, data, and workflows across the department. The goal is simple: Reduce administrative burden, help employees get to the right information faster, and give them more time to deliver the care and benefits Veterans have earned,” said Kendall Collins, CEO of Missionforce & Government Cloud at Salesforce.
Salesforce has secured a $1.6 billion contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to support the deployment of Agentic AI and enterprise platform technologies. The agreement represents a major milestone for Salesforce as it expands its role in government digital transformation, helping modernize healthcare services, improve operational efficiency, and enhance experiences for veterans through advanced AI-powered solutions.
Why the Salesforce Contract Matters
The new agreement strengthens Salesforce’s position as a leading provider of enterprise cloud and artificial intelligence solutions. By delivering Agentic AI capabilities, Salesforce aims to automate complex workflows, improve decision-making, and streamline interactions across the VA’s healthcare and administrative systems.
