Flourish Health has secured $26 million in Series A financing to expand its in-home mental healthcare services for children and young adults with complex behavioral health needs.
The funding round was co-led by B Capital, Cherryrock Capital and F-Prime.
According to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only about one in five children with emotional, mental or behavioral disorders receive specialized treatment, highlighting a significant gap in access to care.
Founders And What They Say
Founded in 2022 by Natalia Birgisson, John Haskell and Josh Gachang, Flourish Health was established to address that unmet need through an in-home care model designed for children and young adults with serious mental health conditions. Company executives said the startup has now raised a total of $46 million since its launch.
CEO Birgisson said the company’s mission was shaped by her experience treating children in pediatric emergency departments. She recalled losing a young patient to suicide after the child endured bullying at school while the family struggled to obtain adequate support. She also described caring for another teenager in foster care who was overwhelmed by the prospect of another placement change. Those experiences convinced her that children in crisis required more comprehensive support than lengthy waitlists or referrals and inspired her to create a more integrated model of care.
Birgisson added that the goal was to fill a major gap in the healthcare system by providing intensive services that help children and families receive support before mental health crises escalate to the point of requiring hospitalization.
The Main Goal
Flourish Health works to improve outcomes for children and young adults living with severe mental health conditions while reducing the need for hospital admissions and residential treatment. Working alongside major health insurers, Flourish Health supports families dealing with suicide attempts, anxiety, impulse-control and conduct disorders, trauma-related conditions, depression, and bipolar disorder.
Patients receive care through multidisciplinary “Care Pod” teams consisting of a psychiatrist, therapist, patient guide and family guide. These professionals are supported by an artificial intelligence platform that streamlines administrative tasks and clinical workflows.
Director of Family Guides Sharon Epps said the Care Pod model is intended to create a sense of community for families, helping them feel consistently connected to a dedicated support network throughout treatment.

Beyond traditional clinical appointments, the company offers services including school advocacy, life coaching and coordination with primary care providers. Birgisson said accompanying parents to school meetings often helps align educators, healthcare providers and families around a child’s needs. She also noted that regular in-person activities, including art therapy sessions for socially isolated youths such as those under house arrest, have produced encouraging results.
Epps said the company has also experienced an unexpected increase in referrals from detention centers and transitional housing facilities.
Flourish Health currently operates in 10 U.S. states and has provided care to thousands of patients. According to Birgisson, the company has tripled its year-over-year growth since it began treating patients in 2023.
