- QuantHealth Raises $45 Million ...
QuantHealth, a company that develops artificial intelligence tools for clinical trial design, has secured $45 million in Series B financing to support the expansion of its simulation-first platform for clinical development.
The funding round was led by Qumra Capital and included participation from Pitango HealthTech, Sanofi Ventures, Artofin Venture Capital Fund L.P., Bertelsmann Healthcare Investments (BHI), GC Ventures, NewHealth Ventures, Shoni Top Ventures and Esplanade Ventures.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Tel Aviv, QuantHealth focuses on using AI to model clinical trial outcomes before studies begin. According to the company, its technology is designed to help drug developers better understand potential trial performance at the planning stage.
Company Focuses on Trial Planning Before Studies Begin
QuantHealth CEO and co-founder Orr Inbar said the company’s approach differs from many other AI applications in healthcare because it is used before clinical trials are launched.
“Unlike most AI companies in the space, QuantHealth works before a clinical trial begins,” Inbar said in an emailed statement to Fierce Healthcare, adding that this allows the company to influence trial development at an earlier stage.
Inbar explained that the company’s models simulate biology at the patient level to forecast treatment responses and identify factors that may influence trial outcomes. He said the objective is to provide clients with an understanding of likely results before a study starts, allowing strategic decisions to be made early rather than after a trial is already underway.
He also stated that clinical trials have remained largely unaffected by AI technologies despite the high rate of drug development failures. According to Inbar, many unsuccessful drug candidates fail because of effectiveness or safety issues that may have been identified earlier. He said AI-based modeling can be used to estimate how a trial is likely to perform before enrollment begins, rather than uncovering problems during the study itself.
Funding Intended for Research, Team Growth and New Products
QuantHealth said it plans to use the new capital to strengthen its research and development efforts, expand its workforce and broaden its product offerings.
The company’s current focus is on trial design, but Inbar said QuantHealth intends to extend its capabilities further across the drug development process. He noted that future efforts may include supporting decisions related to how treatments are positioned and ultimately brought to market. He added that the company aims to continue demonstrating measurable outcomes for its partners.
According to company executives, QuantHealth has simulated more than 600 clinical trials across 30 medical indications and achieved predictive accuracy of up to 90%. The company also plans to increase its coverage to more than 40 indications, including areas such as oncology and cardiometabolic diseases.
Previous Financing and Investor Support
The Series B round follows earlier fundraising activity by the company. QuantHealth announced a $15 million Series A financing round in August 2023 and introduced its AI-guided workflow, known as Katina, in November of that year. In January 2024, the company also received a strategic investment from Accenture, although financial details of that investment were not disclosed.
Inbar said QuantHealth has now raised approximately $70 million in total.
Commenting on the latest financing, Sanofi Ventures partner Cris De Luca said the firm has supported QuantHealth since its early stages and has observed the company’s work in combining AI with clinical development. De Luca said simulation technologies are becoming an increasingly important component of drug development as pharmaceutical companies seek to use AI to improve decision-making throughout the development lifecycle.
QuantHealth has raised $45 million in Series B financing to accelerate the development and expansion of its AI-based clinical trial simulation platform. The funding highlights growing interest in artificial intelligence tools designed to improve clinical development and support better trial planning.
For QuantHealth, the latest investment represents an opportunity to expand its technology, reach more pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations, and strengthen the role of AI-driven simulations in clinical research.
QuantHealth and the Rise of AI Clinical Trial Simulation
QuantHealth focuses on using artificial intelligence and computational modeling to simulate clinical trials before they are conducted in the real world. These capabilities can help development teams evaluate different trial scenarios and explore potential outcomes.
Traditional clinical trial planning often requires extensive time and resources. QuantHealth aims to provide researchers with additional insights before committing to costly and complex clinical studies
