- Suki introduces the Wolters Kl ...
Suki announced the launch of a new feature that enables clinicians to pose complex clinical questions directly in the Suki for Clinicians app via Wolters Kluwer’s UpToDate Expert AI API solution.
Introducing ‘Ask’: Evidence-Based Reasoning in the Workflow
Ask is the tool that embeds evidence-based clinical reasoning directly into the workflow and can offer answers based on UpToDate’s proprietary content. It’s the first product integration of the UpToDate Expert AI API, according to the company.
It’s created and updated by over 7,600 physician authors, editors, and peer reviewers, executives say.
Partnering to Deliver Intelligence Where Clinicians Need It
Yaw Fellin, SVP and general manager, clinical decision support and provider solutions, for Wolters Kluwer Health, said to clinicians, “Rely on UpToDate for evidence-based, peer-reviewed clinical intelligence to make clinical decisions.
We want to bring UpToDate to them in the places and ways they want it, whether they are coming to UpToDate directly, or through an AI interface, or if it’s becoming even more part of their workflow, Fellin said. The fusion of their power of ambient technology, patient context and the clinical intelligence of UpToDate is helping to empower decision-making – and this is an exciting time for healthcare, and Suki has been an amazing partner in achieving that.”
Responses from UpToDate include transparent sourcing, medication and dosing considerations, and links to supporting content.
Tailoring Evidence to Individual Patient Context
“From our initial experience with the Expert AI API from UpToDate in Suki, it was evident that while clinicians can use AI to respond to questions, they need to be able to provide answers specific to each patient in front of them. In fact, clinicians chose patient-specific information 83% of the time in the various queries, such as diagnosis, dosage, and safety, etc.
Pathak said standard clinical guidelines are “inherently limited” and clinicians need to “still tailor information to meet the individual needs of the patient.”
Combining real-time context from the conversation with the patient’s existing chart information, Pathak said “Suki Ambient Clinical Intelligence (ACI) is extremely effective in filling this gap. “This contextual richness, coupled with UpToDate’s trusted evidence, helps to make clinical reference searches into actionable clinical support.”
Executives state that Ask is available in all three of Epic, Oracle Health, and athenahealth and Meditech electronic health record systems.
Additionally, in late August, Suki launched a new AI dictation tool designed to enhance the flexibility of healthcare organizations’ documentation.
Suki Dictation is delivered natively within Epic and Meditech’s EHRs and is available to be used as an add-on or in conjunction with Suki for Clinicians.
Suki Integrates Wolters Kluwer’s UpToDate Expert AI
Suki has launched Ask, an AI-powered clinical decision support tool that integrates Wolters Kluwer’s UpToDate Expert AI API into the Suki for Clinicians application. Announced on October 8, 2026, the new feature is designed to help clinicians access patient information and evidence-based medical knowledge through natural-language questions.
The launch marks an expansion of Suki’s role in healthcare technology. While ambient AI tools have traditionally focused on clinical documentation and reducing administrative workloads, Suki is extending its capabilities toward information retrieval and clinical reasoning support.
Powered by UpToDate Expert AI, the Ask feature provides answers grounded in medical content developed and reviewed by physicians and other clinical experts. Responses include supporting sources and links to relevant clinical evidence, helping clinicians understand the basis for the information presented.
