Align Technology has introduced a new technology known as Invisalign Virtual Care AI remote monitoring. The company has designed this tool for patient monitoring to modernize the task for doctors and their employees. This eliminates the requirement for independent solutions leading to patient enrollment, setup, and review all being available immediately on the Invisalign Doctor Site.
The system, which is powered by artificial intelligence (AI), allows medical service providers to remotely monitor Invisalign treatment progress. Medical professionals can use their own pre-approved clinical settings to monitor patient progress, with the help of AI-assisted algorithms for automated evaluation.
Based on settings set by the doctor, AI-assisted automated alerts help patients through all the stages of their therapy and recovery. Patients receive progress messages on the mobile app and share images with each aligned adjustment.
The Virtual Care AI from Align Technology will be integrated into the company’s smartphone app. The application will guide users through the process of photographing their teeth before automatically assessing the alignment and spacing of each tooth and comparing it to the specific settings previously preset by the user’s doctor. The app will then send an automatic message telling the user to go on to the next set of aligners if their treatment is doing well or to continue on their current aligner if more time is required.
In March 2020, during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Align Technology introduced its Virtual Care platform to assist clinicians in remotely monitoring the treatment progress of their patients.
The business has now announced that its AI tools are being pushed out globally, with the automatic notifications being registered as medical devices in some countries. The regions in which the tools are being pushed out are:
· The Middle East, and Africa
· Americas
· Europe
· Asia-Pacific region
Raj Pudipeddi, Managing Director of Align Technology stated:
“Align is dedicated to continuous innovation in the field of digital orthodontics. I am extremely confident about our next phase of AI-assisted remote monitoring system. On the front end, Invisalign Virtual Care AI is the only doctor-directed AI-assisted remote monitoring system that integrates with the Align digital platform, allowing doctors to prioritize Invisalign treatment tracking exceptions. Invisalign Virtual Care AI provides physicians and employees with a continuous and hassle-free single-platform experience. It also helps patients, who can obtain advice based on automated evaluations in as little as an hour.”
The platform expands on the Invisalign Virtual Care platform, which was released in March 2020. It enabled clinicians to communicate with patients remotely during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mitra Derakhshan, SVP at Align Technology stated:
“Invisalign Virtual Care AI is just another wonderful example of how we are leveraging digital technology to link clinicians and their patients in order to provide even more continuity of care and a simplified experience. Aligner fit and seating are critical factors for evaluating the progress and efficacy of Invisalign. The app would be an intermediary between the doctors and patients to fill in the gap and make things easier”.
