Avanlee Care Partners With Walmart to Bring Its Avanlee App to Caregivers

Avanlee Care has partnered with Walmart to provide its digital application to nearly 70 million Americans who care for aging relatives. Currently, 90% of seniors opt to age in place and depend on digital technologies to receive assistance.

In certain Arizona, New York, Florida, and Texas Walmart supercenters, the Avanlee app will be showcased and promoted in the pharmacy and grocery categories. There will also be representatives available to help customers with their questions and concerns about the mobile app.

To keep family members updated on their elderly relatives’ well-being as they age in place, the app can sync with fitness trackers like Fitbit. Appointment alerts, medication reminders, and grocery lists are all consolidated into one area within the app to save time and effort for caregivers.

In addition to two family members, the free edition of the app allows for the management of four drugs, four events, and two Walmart shopping lists. Unlimited medicines, events, and lists can be shared among up to 10 carers each month for just $10 per month. Up to 30 caregivers can enroll for $13 for a limited period.

Avanlee Christine, Avanlee CEO, stated, “Our team and some executives will be there to talk about the Avanlee app with caregivers coming into Walmart shopping for their aging parents. It’s exciting to have somebody like Walmart taking a vested interest in the fact that so many of their shoppers are caregivers and figuring out how can they just simply make their lives easier.”

Christine’s grandmother was the first person to get delivery of Walmart goods through the application. Christine was inspired to create the app after seeing how the woman in her family took care of her grandfather, who was diagnosed with dementia when she was just 10 years of age.

Christine’s personal experience with caregiving, as well as her observations of her aging grandmother, prompted the development of the app’s many features. Family members from all around the country can keep in contact and divide the financial and emotional load of caregiving, which, according to Christine, can significantly reduce the indirect cost of caregiving when using a single integrated app.

Avanlee’s integration with Walmart means that her sister can make a grocery list and pay for it from another state. Christine hopes to be able to buy medication in addition to food and health supplies in the future.

Presently, grocery list functionality and health and vitals tracking are the most sought-after features by caretakers. The top two uses for seniors are medicine reminders and grocery list management. Christine disproves the stereotype that the elderly are technologically illiterate by noting that over 60% of seniors own a smart device. She also insists that the fact that the app has everything a user could want is greatly appreciated by the elderly.

Esther Dyson, Avanlee’s principal investor, will be present at the pilot launch of the collaboration later this month at a number of Walmart sites. The launch is set to include at least ten different sites, with more to come later on.
