ClosedLoop introduces tools designed to forecast risk and assess the results of population health initiatives

ClosedLoop, a company specializing in healthcare data science platforms, has recently introduced two new solutions aimed at transforming how healthcare institutions evaluate and enhance their programs. These tools aim to improve patient outcomes and healthcare quality while also potentially reducing unnecessary costs.

The first tool, ACO-Predict, is particularly beneficial for Medicare Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). It utilizes artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive risk stratification by utilizing recent beneficiary claims data updates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). 

ACO-Predict’s algorithms have shown a significant 41% improvement in accuracy compared to traditional risk assessment methods. Importantly, ACO-Predict is easy to implement and integrates seamlessly with CMS data through an API, eliminating the need for complex technical processes. It also offers additional paid tiers to serve non-Medicare populations and supports diverse data feeds, enabling program targeting functionalities like transitions of care and specialist referrals.

The second tool, Evaluate, is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution designed to assess and continuously monitor the impact of complex population health programs. Historically, quantifying the effects and return on investment of such programs has been challenging due to methodological and cost-related issues. 

Evaluate stands out by precisely targeting and comparing outcomes across different patient groups, adapting to changing program dynamics and population shifts. Its real-time evaluation capabilities provide continuous insights, facilitating program enhancements and tailored interventions. This is especially important given the changing healthcare landscape, including disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which rendered traditional pre-post analyses less relevant.

ClosedLoop has a strong track record in healthcare innovation, including winning the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services AI Health Outcomes Challenge in 2021.
