- MetroHealth & Artisight J ...
MetroHealth, based in Cleveland, has partnered with Artisight to roll out the health technology firm’s smart hospital platform across several facilities within the healthcare system.
Artisight provides artificial intelligence-powered hospital infrastructure and operational tools. Its platform functions as a centralized system for smart hospitals by combining computer-based vision, e-sensor networks, indoor positioning and real-time location systems, voice-enabled services and video conferencing with electronic health records (EHRs) and third-party software.
MetroHealth specifically chose Artisight’s virtual sitting, virtual nursing and other AI-enabled solutions. According to the company, these technologies integrate directly with existing clinical workflows and vendors, including Epic Systems.
In an interview, Artisight co-founder and CEO Andrew Gostine explained that the company was created by clinicians with clinicians in mind, aiming to improve both workplace experiences and patient outcomes. He suggested that seeing a leadership team with strong clinical representation become involved early in discussions about the partnership signaled strong alignment between the organizations.
The implementation will introduce these technologies into nearly 500 patient rooms across five hospitals, beginning with MetroHealth’s The Glick Center Hospital. Over the next two years, the rollout will extend to three additional hospital sites and the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute in Old Brooklyn, Ohio.
Jill Evans said that AI-supported hospital rooms mark a move toward healthcare that is more patient-focused and technology-enabled. She indicated that the upgraded rooms are expected to help care teams provide more attentive and individualized support to patients and their families. She added that MetroHealth’s collaboration with Artisight is intended to modernize traditional care environments into spaces that improve patient and family experiences while also boosting staff efficiency and satisfaction.
She further noted that MetroHealth nurses have shown strong enthusiasm for the initiative and are actively participating in shaping how the program will be implemented across the system.
Gostine stated that Artisight’s virtual nursing technology has produced a 40% to 50% decrease in electronic medical record log-ins and has often reduced nursing turnover by at least half.
He also explained that the platform includes an AI element designed to expand virtual nursing capacity, allowing nurses using Artisight’s system to support more staff and patients than competing third-party virtual nursing tools. According to Gostine, this combination of AI and workflow integration helps deliver broader support to bedside nurses.
In late April, Artisight signed a comparable agreement to deploy its technology throughout UChicago Medicine. That partnership will involve the installation of more than 1,800 devices across patient rooms, post-anesthesia care units, operating rooms and UChicago’s upcoming 575,000-square-foot cancer treatment facility, which is scheduled to open in April 2027.
Gostine said that more than 500 hospitals across the U.S. are currently under contract with Artisight, while the company continues working to accelerate deployment timelines and bring virtual care systems online more rapidly. He added that the organization has achieved its goal of activating patient rooms simultaneously in under five minutes, a capability that supports implementation across healthcare systems with more than 15,000 patient rooms.
MetroHealth has announced a major partnership with Artisight to deploy an advanced smart hospital platform across its healthcare network. The MetroHealth initiative is designed to transform patient care through artificial intelligence, virtual nursing, remote monitoring, and intelligent hospital operations. The MetroHealth rollout marks another important step toward modernizing healthcare delivery with innovative technology.
MetroHealth Brings AI-Powered Healthcare Solutions
The new MetroHealth smart hospital deployment will cover nearly 500 patient rooms across five healthcare facilities. MetroHealth plans to begin implementation at the Glick Center before expanding to additional locations over the next two years. The MetroHealth strategy focuses on reducing clinician workload while improving patient safety and overall hospital efficiency.
