Under the agreement, Insilico Medicine will lead the early stages of drug discovery using its proprietary Pharma.AI platform, which integrates generative artificial intelligence across target identification, molecular design, and candidate optimization. The platform is intended to identify promising therapeutic molecules that meet predefined scientific and early development criteria before they are transferred to Takeda for further development.

Takeda will assume responsibility for advancing successful candidates through preclinical development, clinical trials, regulatory submissions, manufacturing, and commercialization. The Japanese pharmaceutical company will receive exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and market any therapies selected through the collaboration.

Financially, the agreement provides Insilico with approximately $60 million in project initiation fees, upfront payments, and near-term milestones. The biotechnology company could receive up to $600 million in total payments if development, regulatory, commercial, and sales milestones are achieved. The deal also includes tiered royalties on future product sales.

The collaboration is designed to discover clinically differentiated drug candidates by applying generative AI from the earliest stages of research.
