Hims & Hers has introduced a new artificial intelligence assistant within its platform designed to help users better understand biomarker lab results and receive tailored health insights.
The company initially launched its direct-to-consumer biomarker testing service in November. The newly unveiled AI tool, called Labs AI, has already been tested with a limited group of users and will gradually become available to all customers using the Labs service, the company revealed on Thursday.
Hims & Hers currently offers access to 130 biomarker tests spanning 10 categories, including cardiovascular health, hormone balance, inflammation and stress. The expansion reflects the company’s broader strategy to move further into preventive care and health monitoring. According to chief medical officer Patrick Carroll, the AI system is intended to make lab reports easier for consumers to interpret and engage with.
Carroll emphasized that the technology is educational rather than diagnostic. He explained that the AI companion is designed to explain the meaning of lab results in a more understandable format while ensuring the same information is shared with healthcare providers for consistency in communication.
The AI system is capable of analyzing patterns across all 130 biomarkers, helping users understand why specific results matter and how they relate to an overall health profile, according to company executives.
Hims & Hers described Labs AI as a proprietary platform built to evaluate biomarker histories alongside individual health information in order to generate personalized and clinically relevant insights. The system combines advanced language models with the company’s internal medical knowledge base and anonymized learnings derived from thousands of patient interactions.
Mo Elshenawy, the company’s chief technology officer, said the tool does not rely on information gathered from the open internet and that user data remains protected. He also stressed that the AI is not intended to replace medical professionals or make diagnoses independently.
According to Elshenawy, Labs AI grounds its responses in users’ biomarker information and a proprietary medical database developed in collaboration with healthcare practitioners specifically for this application.
He added that the platform includes clinician-approved safeguards and undergoes ongoing monitoring for both safety and accuracy. The system also incorporates cross-category safety checks, retrieval mechanisms tied directly to patient biomarker values and a multilayered review process that evaluates every software update before deployment.
Mo Elshenawy joined Hims & Hers last year after previously serving as president and CTO of Cruise, the autonomous-driving vehicle company owned by General Motors. He said the company stood out because it already had a large consumer base, an integrated care delivery model and an opportunity to modernize healthcare infrastructure through technology.
Elshenawy also described the current healthcare system as fragmented, reactive and difficult for patients to navigate. He said he believes Hims & Hers has the potential to build an AI-native healthcare platform where intelligence is integrated throughout the care journey, supported by clinical safeguards and focused on achieving measurable patient outcomes.
Executives from the firm confirmed that this wouldn’t be the only AI care agent the company rolls out; there are more in the pipeline for the future.
Hims & Hers Health has introduced a new AI-powered healthcare tool focused on Biomarker analysis and personalized wellness insights. The launch marks another step forward in digital healthcare innovation, with the company aiming to simplify how patients understand complex laboratory results through intelligent automation.
What is the Biomarker AI Agent?
The new AI system is designed to analyze Biomarker lab findings and transform raw medical data into easy-to-understand health insights. By leveraging artificial intelligence, the platform helps users interpret trends related to metabolic health, hormone levels, cardiovascular indicators, and other critical Biomarker measurements.
The AI-driven approach allows patients to receive faster, more personalized interpretations without relying solely on traditional healthcare consultations.
