- Swoop Acquires Nimble to Add P ...
Artificial intelligence-powered healthcare marketing company Swoop has acquired prescription management platform Nimble, adding prescription fulfillment and pharmacy connectivity to its portfolio of services. The acquisition brings Nimble’s prescription management platform into Swoop’s operations and expands its capabilities in patient engagement and therapy support.
Nimble works with independent pharmacies across all 50 U.S. states and says its digital-first platform enables 16 million patients to fill, refill, pay for, and manage prescriptions. According to the company, the platform is designed to simplify prescription access and support patients in staying on therapies prescribed by their doctors.
Swoop CEO and co-founder Ron Elwell said the company had been looking to establish a closer connection with patients. He cited Swoop’s January 2025 acquisition of MyHealthTeam, a company that operates more than 60 condition-specific patient communities, as part of that effort.
Elwell said Swoop has the ability to identify patterns related to patient behavior, including when people may become non-adherent to therapies, remain undiagnosed with a condition, or visit specialists. However, he said the company lacked a direct way to communicate with patients and provide information that could support them during their healthcare journey. He added that acquiring Nimble enables Swoop to directly connect with patients through prescription fulfillment and therapy adherence services.
Elwell also said the transaction allows Swoop to provide solutions to pharmaceutical companies at different stages of the patient experience. He said the acquisition gives the company what he described as a life cycle approach to a solution, allowing it to work with patients and pharmaceutical companies from beginning to end.
“Ultimately, I think both our companies really care about how we can drive outcomes for patients,” said Talha Sattar, Nimble CEO and founder, in an interview with Fierce Healthcare. “And I think for us it enables us to bring our solution to 50, 60 million consumers who use pharmacies every month, and 100 million who use it every year. We can bring modern tools to them and help them stay on their therapies.”
Sattar said Nimble currently works with thousands of pharmacies around the country and hopes to expand further. He said broader adoption among pharmacies could provide patients with direct information about affordability and education related to their drugs that they might not otherwise receive. He also said the company is excited about expanding both sides of its business.
Elwell said there are tens of thousands of independent pharmacies in the United States, representing roughly half of the country’s pharmacies. He also said Nimble is currently the third-largest pharmacy network in the country after CVS and Walgreens, and that Swoop aims to expand the network further.
Swoop said the acquisition strengthens its ability to connect aggregated insights and privacy-safe technologies to determine patient needs. The company added that its portfolio now spans audience intelligence, community engagement, AI-powered web solutions, coordinated omnichannel activation, and prescription management.
Swoop President Scott Rines said integrating pharmacy signals into Swoop’s broader engagement ecosystem could help life sciences companies deliver stronger health and commercial outcomes.
Healthcare technology company Swoop has announced the acquisition of Nimble, a leading prescription management and pharmacy connectivity platform. The acquisition of Nimble is expected to strengthen Swoop’s healthcare engagement capabilities while creating a more seamless experience for patients, providers, and pharmacies. By integrating Nimble into its ecosystem, Swoop aims to improve medication access and streamline prescription fulfillment processes.
Why the Nimble Acquisition Matters
The addition of Nimble represents a significant step in Swoop’s strategy to build a connected healthcare platform. Nimble has developed technology that simplifies prescription management by connecting healthcare providers, pharmacies, and patients through a unified digital network.
Prescription management remains one of the most complex areas of healthcare administration. Patients often face challenges such as delayed prescriptions, lack of communication between providers and pharmacies, and difficulties obtaining medication updates. The acquisition is designed to address these issues by creating a more connected ecosystem that simplifies every step of the medication journey.
A streamlined prescription process can help reduce frustration for patients while ensuring that medications are delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This type of integration supports better coordination across healthcare organizations and retail pharmacy networks.
Increasing Efficiency Through Automation
Healthcare providers handle large volumes of prescription requests every day. Manual processes can create bottlenecks, increase administrative workloads, and introduce opportunities for errors. Advanced automation technologies can help healthcare organizations improve operational efficiency by reducing repetitive tasks and enabling faster processing times.
